Drink Pink & Ember Inns

Enjoy a pink pour to support Against Breast Cancer...

The Ember Inns Drink Pink campaign is back! For the fifth year running we will be donating 5p from every one of our special range of 'pink drinks' in an attempt to raise a record breaking £60,000 for Against Breast Cancer!

This year's campaign is fronted by the charity's honorary president Julie Cowell (mother of Simon) and entrepreneur Duncan Bannatyne. It will run from 24 May - 19 June, with the extended range of drinks being led by the limited edition 'Thirsty Dragon' ale - inspired by Duncan of course!

Drink Pink = Progress

Since 2005 the Drink Pink campaign has raised a phenomenal £140,000 - all thanks to our fantastic guests! Your money has helped to fund...

  • Against Breast Cancer's unique research to increase survival after diagnosis and ultimately to discover a vaccine against breast cancer
  • Three more scientists working on the Against Breast Cancer research team at University College London

Against Breast Cancer does not receive any government funding, and relies solely on individuals, companies and trusts to fund research, and that's why events like Drink Pink are so important.

Worth Drinking To?

Research shows that one in nine women in the UK will be diagnosed with breast cancer during their lifetime. Against Breast Cancer's research team is carrying out ground breaking work in three areas:

  • to develop a blood or urine test for early detection of aggressive 'secondary' cancers in breast cancer patients
  • to find ways to stimulate low levels of immunity in breast cancer patients and use this information to produce a vaccine
  • to provide evidence from our Diet & Lifestyle Study (the largest of its kind in the world) to base recommendations on dietary and lifestyle practices for breast cancer survival.

How you can help!

To support us and help make this year's campaign better than ever, just choose a 'pink drink' and we will donate 5p to Against Breast Cancer for every one sold. We have a fantastic selection of speciality drinks this year, including:

- Thirsty Dragon ale inspired by charity supporter Duncan Bannatyne!
- Thatcher's Katy Rosé Cider
- The Soft Pink: Cracker Apple Strawberry and Mountain Cranberry
- Tickled Pink: J2O Apple & Raspberry
- Pretty in Pink: 50ml Smirnoff Vodka, Pomegranate and Raspberry cordial with soda or lemonade

Quotes from Against Breast Cancer Ambassadors

Julie Cowell

Against Breast Cancer is working to find ways that will detect cancer much sooner. The earlier it is detected, the earlier it can be treated, giving women a much better survival rate.

I'm sure you will agree with me that a vaccination against breast cancer would be absolutely fantastic! With the help of people like Dr Anthony Leathem and his wonderful research team, I believe that one day it will become a reality.

Duncan Bannatyne

The money you help raise is going to help the charity enormously and will allow them to continue to fund the research that we hope is going to help put an end to the disease and help more women survive.

All that you do to help the campaign is going to be greatly appreciated by Against Breast Cancer and will allow them to continue the great work they are doing - enjoy the campaign, have fun with it, and thank you!

There is not one person in this country that hasn't been touched by this horrible disease. Anything that can be done to better understand it and hopefully better equip us to cope with it and even eradicate it, has to be supported. I've been a patron of the charity since 2001 and know how important this campaign is. In addition to the funds you raise, getting Against Breast Cancer's name out into the wider public through this type of campaign is really helpful.

Thank you so much for supporting Against Breast Cancer. The effort and money you make will allow us to carry on our research, and enable us to move closer towards our ultimate goal of developing a cure for breast cancer.

I support Against Breast Cancer because it is a charity working hard to discover a vaccine to fight against breast cancer. I have a daughter and would like to think that one day she can be given a vaccine that will prevent breast cancer becoming a threat to her, and to the lives of many other young girls. I would personally like to thank Ember Inns for getting involved with this campaign and for supporting the indispensable work of this charity which seeks to safeguard the health of all women in the community.
